Pattaya is located on the East Coast of the Bay of Bangkok, about 100 kilometers and an hour and a half drive south of Bangkok, the capital and largest city city of Thailand.
Pattaya is easily accessible from the Bangkok airport via bus or taxi, and the two cities are connected by well-developed and modern highways and make for easy travel. Please check out my post on the best ways to get to Pattaya from Bangkok airport.
Pattaya is a coastal city with miles of beaches, although the water would not be considered pristine due to the large population of the city. It enjoys hot and tropical weather year-round, with daily temperatures generally reaching about 90 degrees, with a low of about 80 degrees at night.
Although Thailand is a long country, virtually all of its major cities are well connected by modern highways and are easily and quickly traversable by bus or car.
Below is a map of Thailand, including Pattaya, to give you an idea of where the city lies in relation to the rest of the country.
