It is, of course, impossible to definitively say which fruit is the healthiest and most nutritious. They are all healthy and each has its own unique nutritional signature.
But there are definite reasons that the avocado is included on the list of super foods. Many people, including myself, claim that the avocado is as near to the perfect food as you can get.
One of the most important reasons is that the avocado is densely packed with a wide range of vitamins and minerals. It also has many phytonutrients and antioxidants which help to prevent oxidation and cellular damage.
4/5 of an avocado is composed of healthy monounsaturated fat, which reduces HDL cholesterol in the blood. In this way, avocados help to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke caused by hardening and blockages of the arteries.
And on top of all these wonderful health benefits, the avocado, in my opinion, tastes absolutely delightful. I could, and in fact often do, eat a half of an avocado everyday without ever becoming tired or bored with its taste.
It may not be perfect. But, in my book, it is hard to beat the combination of taste and nutrition found in a ripe Hass avocado.
