Avocados may not be the best choice for weight loss because they are packed with calories, stemming from the fact that they are composed of mostly monounsaturated fat.
About 80% of the avocado is composed of fat, which has about twice as many calories per gram as both carbohydrates and proteins.
This means that a little bit of avocado goes a long way towards reaching your caloric goals for the day, and therefore if you are aiming to lose weight you will want to go light on avocado in your diet.
With that being said, avocados are one of the healthiest foods in all the land. They are included on most lists of super foods, which are touted for their immense nutritional and health benefits.
So even if you’re on a diet, you can still include avocado, just keep the portions reasonable in order to limit your caloric intake.
