Can You Hear a Mosquito? Do They Make Noise?

The only time it is possible to hear a mosquito is when it is flying in very close proximity to your ear canal.

Mosquitoes and beat their wings hundreds of times per second, and although they are tiny, this movement does create sound waves that are perceptible like close range.

A close range, mosquitoes make an almost imperceptible buzzing noise that quickly fades as they fly away.

Because they are so tiny, the movement of mosquitoes does not create sound waves large enough to be perceptible to the human ear most of the time.
